Martial Arts Karate and Kickboxing Black belts in Winchester

Delivering the best from your training

At Shin Gi Tai Martial Arts Academy you won’t be reliant on a single coach, we have a talented team of coaches to help you

to develop your Martial Arts skills.

Each one of our team members is committed to ensuring that you get the best from your personal training in Winchester Martial Arts.  As with the adults, safeguarding plays a major role in our children’s program where we promote safety happiness in training and improvement in their skills. All coaches properly are insured and qualified as martial arts coaches. Being a Black Belt or higher in a Martial Arts isn’t enough, this just means that you’ve reached a technical standard on a certain day. All coaches holds at least one qualification to safely coach Martial Arts that covers how to coach adults and children, protection of children from abuse, health and safety, lesson planning and risk management.

In addition coaches have to regularly attend courses from external providers to revalidate their coaching qualification, such as Sport England’s ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children,’ ‘Equity in your coaching,’ ‘Long Term Athlete Development,’ Coaching Athletes with Disabilities.’ Our Head Coach has a national role as a Coaching Tutor with a remit to formally coach other coaches to improve their coaching and club management skills and knowledge.

In addition to their normal classes, Our coaches have to train at least twice per month in an advanced Martial Arts classes/course for coaches and senior belts. This is taught at an advanced technical level to ensure that they are still enhancing and building upon their own skills whilst learning new ones.

Our Martial Arts Club

Bryan our Head Coach, is passionate about learning the teaching the Martial Arts. He has been running Shin Gi Tai Martial Arts Academy since 1991 and has over 45 years of training in the Martial Arts.

After many years with a busy home life with 3 young children, commuting to London and further afield for work and then teaching Martial Arts part time in different parts of Basingstoke, the club decided to secure it’s first full time location and run all classes from this one central location, in late 2009 Shin Gi Tai Martial Arts Academy became as a full time dedicated school, the first at the time in Basingstoke.

Our Martial Arts Academy is firmly family focussed and friendly as a Martial Arts club with a key focus being; externally professionally qualified coaches who are both technically skilful in their respective Martial Art and also hold a Sport England approved coaching qualification. We hold monthly internal coach education sessions, to ensure that our coaches are passing on their knowledge and skills to our members in the best way that we can using modern best practice from coach education.

Our team has substantially expanded since 2009, but our core values remain firmly in place. We are a strong family friendly team and everyone of us still trains weekly within the academy as well as teaching here.  Because of this all the people you will meet here will understand and help you to feel just as at home here as they all do.

At Shin Gi Tai Martial Arts Academy in Winchester, everyone from all walks of life regardless of age, size or ability will find themselves made welcome, the Academy’s door is always open to because we believe that everyone deserves a chance to discover what they can become.

Because not all Martial Arts clubs are created equal!
