Our Martial Arts Academy has has purposely being designed to provide the best professional equipment in the area and like our Basingstoke facility provides both high quality Martial Arts tuition along with a superb place to actually learn the Martial Art in with lots of equipment to use including pads, kickshields and punch bags.
World Class Instructors
We have both in-house and visiting world class instructors on a regular basis for them to train with and learn from in our professionally equipped facilities. These elite level Martial Arts coaches, teach a range of different skills to us including World Fighting Champions in Karate, International Master level Tai Chi Teachers, World class Aikido Teachers, World Kata champions in Karate, International champion in Brazilian Ju Jitsu (BJJ), National instructor in Filipino Martial Arts and National instructors in Chinese weapons. Learning a Martial Art with the calibre of these visiting instructors adds to the depth of our own international level teachers.
Shin Gi Tai Martial Arts Academy in Winchester has a syllabus that teaches principles, skills and techniques from a wide range of martial arts that our coaches are qualified in. We teach Kung Fu, Judo, Karate, Ladies only Kickboxing, Ladies only Karate and Tai Chi. Our coaches are also able to deliver 1-2-1 Person Training sessions with you both of a fitness nature and also for Martial Arts themselves.

Our Training space
Maximise your learning of a Martial Art in our professionally designed dedicated Martial Arts training centre. With a comfortable waiting area where you can watch the classes taking place as you drink a cup of coffee. There’s plenty of parking too.
As a Kwoon (the name for a training hall in Chinese Martial Arts, this can also mean a place for peace and harmony) or a Dojo (the name for a training hall in Japanese Martial Arts) It’s important that we retain the values of the traditional Chinese and Japanese Martial Arts that we teach. However, modern sports science adds more depth with our better understanding of periodisation (long term training plans) and how to use equipment to make better gains in our approach to skills aquisition.
Training Area
Our Winchester based Martial Arts training centre is purpose built and designed to provide an unrivalled experience for your training. The highlight is our expansive 15m x 12m matted training area — one of the largest training spaces in Hampshire for traditional Martial Arts.
Our high-quality specialist flooring provides a clean, hygienic, safe and a cushioned floor that is specifically for the purpose it is being used for, rather than having to hope for the best when using school or village halls, which are then hired out to many different users.
Martial Arts training is generally practiced in bare feet so having a clean and safe floor is paramount for practicing. We can guarantee ours always will be, something which is not so easy when using non-specialist facilities.
Having our own dedicated premises allows us to offer you more classes and guarantees that we can operate to the highest levels of health and safety.
Waiting Area
Parent’s of children training in our Winchester Martial Arts club can sit back and enjoy watching their child practice their Martial Arts skills. Our waiting area has over 35 comfortable chairs to watch classes from plus our coffee machines serves excellent complimentary drinks.
Parents we love you to stay and watch
We actually positively encourage you as parents to stay and watch what your children are learning during class and se the fun that they are having. There is often the chance for some audience input “Parents – How many jumping Jacks should the children do” for example.
We’ve found that the kids in our Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Karate and Judo classes also gain more from having their parents take an active interest in their sport, even occassionally, taking part in a Martial Art classes with them.

Having our own full time professional Martial Arts Centre in Winchester means that there are no restrictions in class to using equipment that easily fits into a car to transport between venues. With such a range of equipment our members can enjoy a wide assortment of activities whilst training, all intended to enhance their skills, whilst having fun, even for adults. All of this helps in the quest to learn a Martial Art in depth.
The equipment that we utilise is suitable for practicing Kickboxing, Kung Fu, Karate, Taekwondo or Judo. It was a significant investment to prepare our new Winchester Martial Arts to be ready for opening, but one that all of our members enjoy and benefit from.
